My understanding is that the Rockingham County Courthouse was burned down in the Civil War. Many records were lost. I come from Rockingham County, but currently am out of state. My husband's family is deep rooted in Northern Rockingham County- Fulk- of Fulks Run. We have been doing research and have run into many problems with the "torching". The Harrisonburg City Library Genealogy Department could really help out- When I see people with messages like yours, I try to refer people over to the library, where the local families and genealogists, like Patricia Turner Ritchie (A reputable genealogist back in Fulks Run)because the library has been requesting anyone with genealogy, especially published works for donations, especially because of the fire. I hope this helps, and I hope your records exist. I would hope that the library has these.
