Spring Gap Creek/Cedar Creek, 1790s land records.

I have land records from the 1790s that refer to the "middle fork of Cedar Creek." This would be somewhere around the Natural Bridge area. Is this "middle fork" now called Spring Gap Creek, which appears on the Geological Survey map?

Thanks.

Example:

Rockbridge County, VA Deed Book D, p. 50.

"30 October 1798
Thomas Reed and Anne his wife of Rockbridge County, VA sold to John Pettycrew of same place, 28 acres for 37 lbs. Located on the middle fork of cedar creek, a branch of James River, adjoining Martha Barkley, John Miller, Thomas Nuel, James Petticrew and Thomas Reed."
