I have been using these message boards to find information on Floyd - and I can't tell you how thankful I am to everyone who has responded. I have actually met a few this way!
Floyd fought in the Mexican and US Civil Wars. He left his family in Kanawha County, WV after the Civil War, and none of "us" ever heard from him again. He could sing beautifully, and was a rather quiet man. He is descended from William Morris, First Settler of Kanawha Valley (William(1), Joshua(2), Patrick Henry(3), W. Floyd(4), Julia Alice(5), Lillian(6), Sally 7), Me(8)). I would love to find descendents of Floyd's with his 2nd wife, Emily. Their children were:
Robert Lee Morris b. 1869;
Jubal Anderson Early Morris, b. 1872, d. c1886
Jefferson C. Davis Morris, b. 1873;
Horace, b. 1874;
Laura, b. 1876; and
Floyd H., b. 1878, d. 1898 Could the H. be for Henry?? named after Floyd's father?
Emily had a son, James (last name unknown), b. 1864.
One of Floyd's children with his first wife (Elizabeth Canterbury) lived with Floyd and Emily. His name was John L. Morris, b. 1854/55 in Kanawha County, VA.
