Thomas Tosh (b. 1808) in Roanoke, VA

I am trying to find information on Thomas Tosh, born approx. 1808 in Virginia. I believe that he was married to Lucy Jane McClanahan and that they had the following children: Mary, James, Cora, William, Ella, John and Henry. I have found Thomas on the 1840, 1850 and 1860 censuses for Roanoke County, VA and then on the 1870 census for Ray County, MO. It is my belief that he followed his eldest daughter, Mary, to Missouri after his wife died. I have found no record of Thomas' death in either Missouri or Virginia. I have found tentative information online that states this Thomas could be the son of Jonathan Tosh and the grandson of Thomas Tosh, an early landowner in Roanoke County. I am specifically looking for documents to prove this relationship. Any leads are greatly appreciated!
