Patricia,
there is a Mudlick Road in Roanoke that could be near the area you are talking about.
If you can find a detailed map of Roanoke--the road curves off Memorial Ave, becomes Edgewood Rd briefly, then becomes Mudlick Rd.(at its crossover with Brandon Rd.) Its isn't a very long road. I think it ends at Garstmill Rd.
This area may have been a part of Salem before since this area was annexed from Salem and became part of Roanoke City I think in the 1960s, early 1970s. I had a friend who lived on Old Salem Road which is next to Edgewood/Mudlick Rd.
A couple miles west is the Roanoke River where it runs through Salem's eastern end. It also floods there quite often.
They may have info about Mudlick Run at the Salem Museum. I didn't check yet, but they likely have a website.
