Elwood: Terry home in Roanoke

I am looking for the history of the house called Elmwood in Roanoke, VA. Also, any information on family of the home. The original public library was there.

I have seen an old photo of a house called Elmwood, set on hill, with a large expanse of yard, fence, twin chimney's.

It was supposed to be home to Terry's from 1750 onward...

I have some information from the library, including a different picture (which may or may not be the same structure), and there are some questions.

Were there two houses in the area of Roanoke called Elmwood? One replacing an older one? When were they torn down (so far I have been able to only get vague dates).

There was also an Elmwood in Halifax Co. assoc. with some Terry's.(Virginia Archives) Is this a coincidence or were the two families related?

There was also an Elmwood in England - saw only a vague mention of it somewhere. Coicidence again? Or could this be a link to place of origin?

Any help to get information on this house and its history and the Terry's who occupied it appreciated.
