Hello All,

My husband's Virginia lines have LANGHORNE (distant) connections. I have been trying to tie my father's boyhood friend (William Haines LANGHORNE) into one of the LANGHORNE lines in Virginia.

Here's what I have:

My husband's HAINES line is through Susannah HAINES (1789, Culpeper Co., VA -- 1856, VA) married Alpheus GAUNT (1790, Culpeper Co., VA -- 1869, Rappahannock Co., VA)

I am trying to attach his line; Susannah HAINES>Isaac HAINES>Ezekial HAINES>Carlile HAINES>Richard HAINES (1665, England -- 1746, NJ) to the family of William "Billy" HAINES (1/1/1900, Staunton Co., VA -- 1973, Los Angeles, CA).

William "Billy" HAINES. William was actually Charles William HAINES.

Parents;
George A. HAINES (b abt March, 1874, VA cigar maker) and Laura V. ?? (b May, 1878, VA).

Grandparents;
Charles E. HAINES (b 9/1842, VA) and Rosie ?? or Rosa Lee (b 1/1849, VA).

Great Grandparents;
George HAINES (b abt 1801, VA) confectioner
Evelina (b abt 1803, VA)

Siblings:
Lillian J. HAINES (b abt 1902, VA,)
Anne F. HAINES (b abt 1906, VA)
George A. HAINES, Jr. (b abt 1908, VA)
Henry C. HAINES (b abt 1908, VA)
One of his sisters, married a LANGHORNE & had a son, William "Billy" LANGHORNE b abt 1929

His Aunts:
Julia E. or C. HAINES (b 10/1869, VA) married RYAN,
Fanny M. HAINES(b 4/1877, VA),
Mary W. HAINES(b 8/1878, VA),

Uncles:
Harry HAINES(b abt 1872, VA),
James R. HAINES(b 4/1882, VA),
Alfred A. HAINES(1/1887, VA)

Great Uncles,
George HAINES (b abt 1821, VA),
Novall W. HAINES(b abt 1835, VA - tobacconist),
Robert O. HAINES(b abt 1846, VA),

Great Aunts,
Ann E. HAINES (b abt 1828, VA),
Ellen Va. HAINES (b abt 1836, VA)

This information is according to Census, 1850 Frederick Co., VA (Winchester); 1860 Frederick Co., VA (Winchester);1870 Staunton Co., VA; 1880 Staunton Co., VA; 1900 Staunton Co., VA; 1910 Augusta Co., VA; 1920 Henrico Co., VA (Richmond City)

An article on www.vististauntonvirginia.com says William was born at 419 North New Street in Staunton, VA on 1/1/1900. He was one of the leading film stars in the 1920's and 30's.

1930 Census Los Angeles Co., CA Hawthorne St. (4/3/1930)

HAINES, George A. 56 yrs VA head of household father VA mother Canada (married age 21 yrs)
HAINES, Laura V. wife 52 yrs VA, parents VA (married age 17 yrs)

HAINES, Henry C. son 12 yrs VA

1930 Census Los Angeles Co., CA Stanley Avenue(4/14/1930)
HAINES, William 28 yrs VA single head of household parents VA actor

I've locate more info:

"Parents;
George A. HAINES (b abt March, 1874, VA cigar maker) and Laura V. ?? (b May, 1878, VA)."

From the Social Security Death Index, I located Ann H. LANGHORNE b 2/3/1906 VA died 7/6/1986, Los Angeles, CA; father HAINES mother MATTHEWS

I also located James Maurice LANGHORNE b 7/2/1924 --d 12/18/1992 Los Angeles, CA

William Haines LANGHORNE b 6/26/1925 VA -- d 1/8/2002, Northridge, CA

The name Maurice, of course, a very common name in the LANGHORNE line.

I'd like to find the father of William Haines and his brother James Maurice LANGHORNE.

Thanks,
Linda Cashen Gaunt
