Seeking any information on John Hitchcock, father of John Richmond William Hitchcock and husband of Maria Frazier. Born in England, he appears in the Richmond City census for 1830, but not for 1840. "He is listed as a trustee for the Virginia Baptist Education Society and as a member of the first Board of Managers for the Virginia Baptist Seminary from 1832 to 1836. He is also listed as a member of the Virginia Baptist Book and Tract Society. But there seems to be no obituary." (From a letter from the Virginia Baptist Historical Society.)
His name crops up in an article on the Virginia Baptist Seminary in the Virginia Baptist Register, number 10, 1971, pg.477, but with no information about him at all.
Son went to California on the "Glendale" in 1849. Any help much appreciated.
