I have happily located my gggg grandmother ELIZABETH CLARK in the Hampton Twp.Rappahannock 1870 Census! She was African American. In that same census, I found her son Thomas Clarke and his son Edward, age 14. They were living with CATHERINE,wife, and other children: Mary J, Elizabeth S., Benjamin 2, St. Thomas 4 and Josephine 5 months.

I can not locate them in the 1860 Census. So, I am taking for granted that ELIZABETH,THOMAS AND CATHERINE were slaves.

I would appreciate any information that you can give me about them.

Thanks so much,

gail beasley
