I have just completed a 12-page Word document including the 1818 Will of Dr. George A. Thornton (1782-1818), son of Col. Wm. Thornton (1742-1818) of “Montpelier.” It also includes an 1831 record of the division of his lands and houses among his heirs that was the result of a suit in Chancery Court. One of the best things about the land division record is that it includes a survey of his three properties: “Piedmont,” “Madison Farm” and “A Part of Champe’s Tract.”
