I have a book entitled, Rappahannock County, VA. History:Fact,Fiction. Foolishness and Fairfax Story.
On page 410 it lists a Richard Brady as a member of the 49th Regiment of Virginia Volunteers for the civil war. He was in Company E-Flint Hill Rifleman(formerly company A) around 1862-63.
If this is the same man you are looking for, you may also want to look in Warren County as it is not far from Flint Hill.
Good Luck.
