I have not connected my family to this branch of Hughes yet. But I found it in a Book titled;

The Woodson's & Their Connections: complied by Henry Worton Woodson; published 1915

As reported in the William and Mary Quarterly. The will of Mrs. Sarah Hughes was proved in Goochland county.. May 19, 1730. It is dated June 8, 1723 and names grandchild Elizabeth Cannon and seven children:

(1) Robert Hughes as executor of the will
(2) Stephen Hughes
(3) Ashford Hughes
(4) Sarah Atkinson
(5) Elizabeth Liles ?
(6) Mary Hughes
(7) Isaac Hughes

(1) Robert Hughes made his will July 13, 1750, which was proved in Cumberland October 25, 1752. He names his wife Martha, and children
       (8) Sarah who is married to Tucker Woodson
       (9) Mary Walton wife of George Walton (marriage bond, May 22, 1749)
       (10) Martha Walton
       (11) Susannah Hughes
       (12) Temperance married Henry Watkins (marriage bond 1760)
       (13) Abraham Hughes
       (14) Robert Hughes made his will, which is proved in Cumberland October 27, 1760. he names his wife Ann Hughes and children
              (19) Jesse, eldest son
              (20) Robert Hughes had issue:
                     (24) John Hughes to whom his father Robert made a deed in 1763,
                     (25) Joseph Hughes who died without issue in 1756
                     (26) Elizabeth Hughes who married John Woodson of Four Mile Creek
                     (27) Judith Hughes

              (21) David Hughes
              (22) Frances Hughes
              (23) Martha Hughes

(2) Stephen Hughes made his will July 6, 1749 which was proved in Cumberland November 28, 1752. it names his wife Elizabeth and issue
       (15) Judith Cox
       (16) John Hughes
       (17) Joseph Hughes
       (18) Elizabeth Hughes who married Sanburne Woodson

(7) Isaac Hughes made his will in Cumberland in 1758. He leaves half his estate to Polly Mosby and in case of her death to her brother George Walton and the other half to his wife Martha.

I hope that this helps someone.

My wife and I just returned from our trip to Prince Edward, Cumberland, Goochland and Appomattox counties in Virginia. Being from Wisconsin I thought that the south would be different. Meaning that I might face some culture clashes. On the contrary, I highly recommend anyone to see the area for themselves, if able. The people were most receptive, helpful and polite. I have to thank all the cousins that came to meet us and show us the, church, graveyard and old Hughes home. As for the home all that stands now is a chimney and foundation with two graves near by, that of William E. Hughes and his daughter. It was a sight and time that will last forever, I just wish I could turn the clock back a few hundred years and talk to themů.

Thank you,
Especially Bernard!!!!
