Buck A. Barber/Barbour

HELP! I have hit a brick wall and cannot get past this point! My gr-gr-gr-grandfather Buck A Barber born 6/1860 is shown as living in Pittsylvania County, Pigg River district on the 1900 Census with his sons Lennard R and Roy L Barber. I have been able to track my Gr-gr grandfather, but I cannot find Buck on any paperwork prior to or after this census. I know he owned a farm in Pigg River in 1900. I do not know if he bought it or it was inherited. Please, any info is appreciated!
His son Lennard (Leonard) married Ora Ethel Willard and died in West Virginia. They had a number of children: Myrtle Mae (Barber) Smith, William H Barber, Robert B Barber (may have moved to California), Woodrow E. Barber, Rossie (Russell) Barber (KIA), Aubrey Edward Barber, Fred J Barber (moved to Baltimore,MD) Bufort Barber, Loraine Barber, and Kenneth Lowell Barber (may still be living).

Please, any info appreciated!
