A Pvt. John Edwards served in Company A, 24th Virginia Infantry. He was mustered into service March 14, 1862 at Floyd Court House. He died Sept. 5, 1862 at General Hospital No. 1, Danville, Va from chronic diarrhea and/or typhoid fever. His widow is named in his file as Elizabeth Edwards. It also says he was born in Floyd County, Va, was aged 36 in 1862. It looks like his widow filed a claim for his back pay after his death. His pocket book containing 1 dollar was supposedly sent to her after his death.
His CMSR file is 22 pages.
