Hi Dave,

I, too, am researching John Pigg Martin's parents. He was my gggg-grandfather. I have been corresponding with a fellow who just took a DNA test in the Martin DNA study. This man is a direct descendant of John Pigg Martin. The results show that we are NOT related to General Joseph Martin as is seen on many places on the web. The General is in what is called Group 23, and we are in Group 1. I suspected as such when John Pigg was not in the General's will--although someone proposed he could have been disinherited.
If the genealogy submitted by other participants in the study is correct, we descend from an Isaac Martin (b. abt 1699 VA, d. 1774 Halifax, VA). I am working on Isaacs 7 sons to see if our John Pigg could have been one of them.
