Hi Frances,

I'm your cousin, Steve Adams. I'm the grandson of your aunt, Mattie Adams, Queenie's daughter, who lived just up the hill from Queenie and Bunk's house.

Queenie was my great grandmother and I remember her and her second husband, Grandpa Sam, who was a railroad conductor. I was only a boy at time, but I inherited Grandpa Sam's red union underwear when he died. (I often wonder why they would bother to pass along something like underwear from a dead man, but apparently it made sense to somebody at the time.)

Queenie, who went by her middle name like many of us from the area, was indeed a mid-wife. Grandma (Mattie) used to talk about that extensively. Queenie actually delivered my father, Clifford.

You must be the daughter of Fred, Dennis, or Grady, because I know all of Allie and Matt's (Grandma's) children and Lily and Ruth died childless.
