Hughes Descendants

If you are a documented, male straight-line descendant of Archelaus Hughes of Patrick County, we have a group of researchers who will pay for a DNA test for you. This test is simple to do, it is private, and takes very little time. The results are a valuable tool in confirming your ancestry. In addition, a DNA test from a Hughes descendant of Archelaus Hughes would also help many Hughes researchers/descendants confirm their ancestry.

We don't have enough records or other resources available to distinguish between the many Hughes lines who were in Charles City, Henrico, Goochland, Albemarle, Cumberland and other counties in this area of Virginia. We didn't know there were this many Hughes branches in this area until we started the DNA project. There are many Hughes descendants who think they belong to one or another line, but results from DNA testing can confirm those beliefs. Believe me, it is not as simple as you might think.
