In Reply to: origins of Uncle Dickey Wood and Rachel Cockram by Linda Cockram Kendall of 769

Linda I have a copy of a little leaflet that was give out at a Wood Reunion years ago that I got from my mother's great aunt. I am also kin to this line. Here is what the leaflet says about Dickey Wood. He was married four times. Rachel Cockram was his first wife. It says she was the daughter of Edward Cockram of Franklin County who was evidently a descendant of William Cockerham who came to Virginia from England in 1639. There is more but it is too long for this post.
Richard 'Dicky' Wood was the son of John Wood. John it says was born in Bedford County in 1769, and moved to Franklin County while young and remained there until his death in 1816.
The 8 Children of Dickey and Rachel were Henry, Alex, German, Peter, Edward (Ned), John Richard, Jeremiah and Anna (who married David Cockram).
Dickey Wood's other three wives were 2.Fannie Brammer, no children, 3. Elizabeth DeHart four children, 4. Lucy Via six children. That makes 18 in all.
If they had TV then there would have been a lot less.
