Rod, Thank you for your reply. I appreciate all the information that you have provided here and on the Reynolds Family GenForum.
The unrecorded document that you reference does show that Moses had a son Thomas, but there were two Thomas Reynolds who lived in Patrick Co. during this time.
In the 1850 Patrick Co. VA Census there are two Thomas Reynolds listed, both in the Southern District.
Thomas Reynolds 65 Va
Ellen 68 Va
John B. 30 Va
Shadrach 17 Va
Thomas Reynolds 39 Va
Nancy 30 Va
John C. 10 Va
Cordelia 8 Va
James 6 Va
Joshua 2 Va
Moses 1/12 Va
There are two reasons that I wonder about whether my Thomas Reynolds is the Thomas listed among Moses' heirs.
My Thomas is the first listed in the census records above. He was born March 24, 1783. The other Thomas was born c1811, and married Nancy on Apr. 4, 1839. The approximate birthdate I have for Moses Reynolds is c1770. If this is correct, Moses would have been too young to be my Thomas' father. Do you have reason to believe that Moses was born earlier than my information shows?
The second Thomas Reynolds, born c1811, named one of his sons Moses Reynolds, as is shown in the census. This hints at a more direct connection to the earlier Moses Reynolds.
I also have another question for you. Do you believe the Abram Reynolds listed in the document is the same as Abraham David Reynolds, born Mar. 1, 1781, died May 3, 1838?
