William W. Atwood 1700 to 1835 hoping for more information

William Atwood, 1700 to 1835, originates in Virginia, dies in Muskingum (originally part of Fairfield) county in Ohio. His first wife appears to have been Lydia Wood, and his second when the first appears to die is Mary Holmes. Both marriages are in Shenadoah County (part that later becomes Page). William lives next to Sinnett Atwood on the 1810 Shenandoah census. Sinnett and William both marry into the Wood clans---Letiticia and Lydia (Lydia niece of Letiticia), and live near the Wood's at that time. Sinnett appears to sign as bondsman for William's first marriage to Lydia Wood (transcribed as 'Dennit' Atwood in the Shenandoah marriage bond book). Sinnett also was 'ward' of Abigail Atwood, daughter of 'James and Caty'-----Sinnett's then deceased older brother James Joseph Atwood and Catherine Fishback. Sinnnett seems to have good records that indicate that William is not his son though. From this I've come to believe that William was likely the first son of James Joseph Atwood, Sinnett's older brother; and both sons of Gilbert Atwood.

If any members of the Wood or Holmes or Atwood clans or local people that might have church or bible records could add to this to help clarify William's father better, it would be greatly apppreciated. Stan
