This Indenture made the thirteenth day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety Between Robert Pollard & Jael his wife of the City of Richmond of the one part and Thomas Farish of the County of Orange of the other part Witnessed that the said Robert Pollard and Jael his wife for and in consideration of the sum of seven hundred pounds lawful money of Virginia to them in hand paid by the said Thomas Farish, on or before the sealing and delivery of these Presents the receipt where of the said Robert Pollard and Jael his wife both hereby acknowledge hath granted bargained and sold and by these presents both grant bargain sell and confirm unto the said Thomas Farish his assigns forever two certain tracts or parcels of land situated lying and being in the County of Orange containing by estimation (one) two hundred and two acres the other tract nine acres adjoining each other the tract of two hundred and two acres bound as follows, beginning at a Spanish and three white oaks on the Rappidan River, thence up the said River the several courses to a Beach Birch and Butter wood corner to Morrison thence with his lines So twenty degrees East forty two poles to two white Oaks then South forty nine degrees West thirty nine poles to two red oaks one dead then south eighteen degrees west one hundred poles to some oak saplings in Morrison's line thence leaving his line south sixty three degrees east one hundred poles to a Spanish oak, thence South thirty two degrees East thirty one poles to a red oak in NICHOLSON line, thence with his line East seventy six poles to a red oak and Hickory, thence North seven degrees East thirty eight poles to the Beginning - The Track containing nine acres bound as follows beginning at the Spanish Oak White Oak and Gum on a flat near a branch corner to the Widow Banks in William Underwood's line thence with his line North Sixty three degrees West eighty poles to some saplings in Richard Reynolds line, thence with his nine South eighteen degrees West thirty seven poles to a red oak corner to said Banks & Reynolds, thence with Banks line to the beginning, together with all houses, buildings, orchards, woods, under woods, waters and watercourses, rents profits, commodities and appurtenances what so ever is to the same belonging or in any wise appertaining, and the Reversion and Reversions remainder and remainders thereof and all and singular the right title claim and demand of them the said Robert Pollard and Jael his wife of in and to the said premises hereby conveyed with the appurtenances to have and to hold the said lands & premises unto him the said Thomas Farish his heirs and assigns forever, to his & their own proper use and be hoof, and the said Robert Pollard and Jael his wife for themselves and their heirs both covenant and agree to and with the said Thomas Farish his heirs and assigns that the said Robert Pollard & Jael his wife and their heirs the said lands and premises hereby conveyed unto the aforesaid Thomas Farish his heirs & assigns shall and will warrant and forever defend by these Presents from the claim or demand of any person or persons what so ever. Witness of the said Robert Pollard & Jael his wife hath hereunto set their hands & Seals the day & year first above writer signed sealed & acknowledged in the presence of -
