I have found a John Gerhardt/Garrett born 1690 and he and his children migrated from Great Britain to Orange Co. Virginia in 1740. 1748 he and his children migrated to Rowan Co.NC. His will says he was a Garrett and he signed the will John Gerhard. No wife is listed, she must have died early on. Their children: 1. Mary GERHARD/Garrett b: ABT 1715 2. Catherine GERHARD/Garrett b: ABT 1716 3. Daniel GERHARD/Garrett b: ABT 1716 Has anyone heard a family legend of Four Gerhardt Brothers who came from North Carolina? It goes like this: One brother to Ohio, one brother to Ky one brother to Arkansas and one brother went out west never heard from again, must have died. My 4th greatgrandfather John Gerhard/Gearhart was the brother who went to Ky. He was born about 1778, parents unknown, he married Katherina,in 1801 their daughter Katherina, was baptized at the Kemmerlin Church (Lutheran)Reed Creek, Wythe Co.VA The sponsor/witness for the baptism was Katherina Berken (Burck. after Dec. 1807 they migrated to Floyd Co.Ky. If any of this sounds familar or you might have more info on this family, especially on Daniel Gerhard/Garrett and his descendants I would love to hear from you.
