Sorry I did not find the answer but the fact that William Nance Freeman & Sarah Fleming were in the 1850 Smyth Co. Census
William Freeman 58 Cooper
Sarah 58
Elizabeth 23 m John B. Ashley 12-3-1857 Smyth County
James 22
Beverly 20, Cassandra 22, Patsy 3, America 1

John I think had married Rachel A. ? and was not at home Joseph too prob and Harvey had died as an infant.
You should be able to find the marriage record since 1857 there were pretty good records. Saw a researcher researching the same family. Good Luck!
