Will of Thomas Pollard, dated November 25, 1788
Amelia County, Virginia Will Book 6, p. 225.
In the name of God Amen. Twenty fifth day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand
seven hundred and eighty-eight, I, Thomas Pollard Sr. of Amelia being sick and weak in body
but in proper reason and judgment for which I thank Almighty God and considering the
of my body that it is appointed for all men once to die do make and ordain this my last will
and testament and as for such worldly estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me in this
life, I give, devise, and the following ------- ---- :
It is my will and I also ordain that in the first place all my just debts and funeral charges
be paid and satisfied. I to my wife Elizabeth Pollard all my estate real and personal during
her widowhood after which my desire is that tract of land have be equally divided and one
half I give and bequeath to my son Thomas Pollard. I give and bequeath to my daughter Elizabeth
B ks (Brooks?) the shillings sterling. I give and bequeath to the heirs of Wm. Pollard deceased
sum of five shillings sterling. I give and bequeath half rest of my land except what Thomas
already given to my son Thomas Pollard to of my children John Pollard, Ambrose Pollard, James Pollard,
Benjamin Pollard, Zachariah Pollard, C Berry & Lucy Pollard and after the death or marriage of my wife
it is my will that all my estate real and personal be equally divided between these my children last
mentioned with my son Thomas Pollard. I constitute and appoint these my sons Thomas Pollard, Jn. (?)
Pollard and Benjamin Pollard exec's of this my last will and testament. I do hereby utterly declare
and dismiss all other former wills legacies and bequests this to be my last will and testament in
witness whereof I hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year first above written. Thomas Pollard Sr.
