I just discovered that Eliza Bland Smith, a descendant of James Muse Smith, married William Fauntleroy Brockenbrough (born 5/2/1826) . This Mr. Brockenbrough was a son of Mrs. Sarah Waller (Smith) Brockenbrough. Miss Sarah Waller Smith was a daughter of John Smith and Sarah Waller, and she had married Monroe Fauntleroy Brockenbrough in Essex Co., VA in 1823. I don't see any "blood connection" between this John Smith and James Muse Smith, since the family of this John Smith APPEARS to "trace back" to the Alexander Smith who died in Middlesex Co., VA in 1696 (and who was in VA by at least the 1650s).

We have some male Smith DNA donors out of Alexander Smith. If any male descendants of James Muse Smith, and/or his father James Smith, are alive today, and if one of them took the DNA test, we could see if that family matches any of the other Smith families in the testing project at this time (including the family of Alexander Smith). Comments?
