The records in Lancaster Co. VA are intact, but Northumberland Co. VA did burn. Some records were rerecorded or mention is made that they existed before the fire. The records that I am dealing with are in the 1600's and 1700's. I have not ordered microfilms any later than this.

You can order microfilm at your local library for Inter Library Loan from the VA State Library. Or, you can go to the nearest LDS Family History Center. How far are you from Dallas?

From what you have said I can only assume that we are cousins many generations back in VA in the 1600's. Our common ancestors would be John Taylor and Alice Gascoigne/Gaskins, his wife. I descend from the Everett branch and you from the Basye branch.
