My gr. grandfather, City Sergeant Robert Edward Glover, was born on 8/29/1864 in Portsmouth, VA and died 10/22/1957 at Kecoughtan Veterans Hospital in Hampton, VA. He is buried in Oak Grove Cemetery in Portsmouth, VA. His parents names were George Washington Glover-he was born in Baltimore, MD, on 10/20/1837. Died 1/11/1889. His wife, Annie Elizabeth Glover, nee Withy, was born in Yorkshire, England, on 7/9/1843, and died on 1/21/1889. They are also buried at Oak Grove Cemetery in Portsmouth, VA. City Sgt. R. E. Glover and wife Margaret Rebecca Glover, nee Walker(she was born 6/16/1841?)in Deep Creek County, VA, now known as Chesapeake, VA, and died on 11/10/1939. She is buried at Oak Grove also.) R.E. & Margaret Rebecca(known as Miss Beckie) adopted her cousin's child. Her cousins name was Mary Elizabeth EDEN, nee Foreman-(she went by Lizzie from what it looks like)and her husband Harry Andrew EDEN. They already had two children, Ella Mae and Harry Andrew, Jr. My grandfather was who was adopted~~~he was born EDWARD THOMAS EDEN-born 10/30/1892. His father, Harry Andrew, died on 7/6/1893, and I am just imagining that she was unable to care for 3 children and let Miss Beckie and R.E. adopt Edward Thomas(my grandfather). Edward Thomas grew up to be a doctor at Kings Daughters Hospital in Portsmouth, VA-Dr. Edward Thomas Glover. Hospital later changed names to Portsmouth General Hospital. It has now been torn down. My grandfather died before I was born, but on his tombstone his birthdate shows it as 11/27/1893. He died 1/11/1945. I am just guessing that is when he was adopted by R.E.& Miss Beckie. I found the 10/30/1892 birthdate in a record of births at the Portsmouth Public Library, so this is not set in stone as far as his birthdate, but the other info. is accurate. Dr. Glover was married to Edith Lyle Glover, nee McConnal/McConnell, whom I loved dearly. I think the first spelling of her maiden name is the correct one, but it could have later been changed in spelling to the other spelling. She was born on 10/29/1892 in Richmond, VA, and died on Nov. 4, 1981 in Portsmouth, VA. My father, Robert Edward Glover, was born on 10/20/1915 in Portsmouth, VA, and graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1932. His sister, Margaret Rose Rountree, nee Glover, was born on February 24, 1917, in Ports., VA and also grad. from Woodrow Wilson. She married Thomas Jefferson Rountree from Portsmouth, VA. My father(Robert Edward Glover) worked at Norfolk Naval Shipyard as a Planner & Estimator. He married Anne Alves Glover, nee Huske, from Fayetteville, NC. My Dad sadly passed away 12/1/1980, in Portsmouth, VA, and is buried at Olive Branch Cemetery with his mother and father, My mother, Anne Huske Glover passed away in Chesapeake, VA, on October 13, 2005 at the age of 78 from Parkinson's Disease. She is also buried at Olive Branch Cemetery beside my father and paternal grandparents.

IF ANYONE READS THIS AND ANYTHING AT ALL SOUNDS FAMILIAR TO THEM, PLEASE CONTACT ME. I HOPE TO HEAR FROM YOU. :)
