Captain Insley Perishes on Schooner Gaston
Posted by: Michael Little (ID *****1726) Date: December 28, 2002 at 12:30:42

On 4 Sep 1889 the Schooner Gaston T. Hubbard, laden with a load of pine, left the port of Norfolk, bound for New York.
It is thought that the schooner passed off Chincoteague on the 8th of September (106 miles from Norfolk) on her beam ends , water-logged and abandoned. The ship's Captain was named Insley and a body believed to be Captain Insley from papers found on the body, was found on the beach.
Can anyone identify Captain Insley?
Thanks,
Michael Little
