Nansemond County Virginia from 1642 until 1974 existed but today the area is contained in the City of Suffolk Virginia.. and most of the surviving old records are held there for Nansemond... Fires in 1779 by British burning military supplies stored in Suffolk also got records then. A fire in 1837 caused the loss of additional records and then Yankee Blues set fires between 1860 and 1865 taking out more records... but if records have survived they would be in Suffolk City Virgina or:

Been working with it a while and still learning to find my own way around on it. Once you get hang of it it worth learning to use as can find actual on line views of actual documents... many you are able to save off line and use in your own programs and trees and such.
