After much research we have traced the family of Samuel Seldon and Rebecca Yeo.
There has been much confusion in three books put out about Samuel and his family. Where they came from and when they arrived in Virginia USA.
What we have found is that Samuel and Rebecca arrived in North Carolina from Devon, England and lived there for up to 11 years before they moved to Virginia.
Their children were born in the following places.
1. Elizabeth Seldon born 28th July 1686 in Meeth, Devon, England.
2. Samuel Seldon born 21st September 1688 in Meeth, Devon.
3. John Seldon born 1700 North Carolina USA
4. Joseph Seldon born 1705 North Carolina USA
5. Bartholomew Seldon born 1706 North Carolina USA.
6. Mary Seldon born 1708 North Carolina USA.
Samuel's daughter did not marry Thomas Milner in 1719 as she was only 12 years old.
The Mary Seldon who married Thomas Milner in 1719 was also from Devon and she was born in 1690 and her father was a William Seldon from Devon and he had two other daughters Grace and Elizabeth.
The Mary who married Col. Thomas Milner was not a Selden or Seldon and we could only find reference to her first name and that she was born in Yorkshire, England.
Samuel Seldon's father Arthur Seldon was not a son of John Selden and Margaret Baker of Tarring, Sussex, England.
Samuel's mother was Elizabeth Yeo born15th March 1636 in Exeter, Devon.
Samuel's surname was SELDON not SELDEN.
