Susan S. Ewell, 17, married Thomas Wessels, 26, in Somerset County, MD, on 01 Dec 1869. (Dryden, Ruth T; Lower Eastern Shore Maryland Marriages; c1991). Susan was the daughter of Edward "Popeye" Ewell and Margaret J. Taylor (of Patsy) and eldest sister of my great grandfather, Alfred Thomas "Dank" Ewell, all of Guilford, Accomack County, Va. Susan Wessels died 04 Nov 1929 in Accomack County. Thomas Wessels' older brother, Edward, married in Accomack County, VA, on 12 March 1852 Elizabeth "Betsy" Ewell, daughter of Ann Taylor Ewell (widow) and Thomas W. Ewell, dec'd. Elizabeth was the sister of Edward Ewell and Augustus Ewell of Ann, and the aunt of Susan Ewell Wessels.
