David Corbin Ker was born in VA around 1765. He received a medical degree from the University at Edinburgh and returned to Virginia to practice. In the 1790s he was elected to the Fredericksburg VA town council. In the early 1800s he moved to New Orleans. In the War of 1812 he was an active medical officer under General Jackson. He later served in the Louisiana state legislature and was a physician at the New Orleans Charity Hospital. In addition to treating General Jackson in 1814 he also treated General Sam Houston in 1836. He died in New Orleans in 1840. According to my grandmother, David's great granddaughter, the family lost all their money and possession during the Civil War. If anyone knows anything of this line of the Ker's I would appreciate hearing from you.
