Would you mind checking your indexes/records for a John and Jacob Newal (Newell)for the War of 1812? I have reason to believe they were both privates under Capt. Matthias McCowan from Monongalia (now Preston Co, but I've tried to send for military records several times and there's no record of either of them. Any information you can add or clarify will be most appreciated. Please reply to lwright004@columbus.rr.com. Thanks.
