I am trying to find out more information on a John Farmer b.1796
in Grayson Co., VA. I believe that he moved to Russell Co. some-
time between 1820 and 1830. I have located a John Farmer in
Grayson in 1820 with no family and between 26-45 years old. In
1830 there is a John Farmer in Russell Co. between 30-40 years
old married to a woman between 30-40 and had 3 children. Son
between 10-15, a daughter between 10-15 and 2 daughters under 5.
There was also a William Farmer living nearby without a family
between 30-40 years. I think he may have been John's brother.
William disappears after the 1830 census. John and his family
are Russell Co. until the formation of Wise Co. Although by 1850 his
first wife has died and he has remarried. The 1850 Russell Co.
census lists the following in his household.

John 54 Grayson Co.
Sally 24 Russell Co.
James 17 "
Osringa 15 M "
John 13 "
Catherine 10 "
Martha 8 "
Lilbourn 1 "
Elisabeth 22 "
Sarah A. 20 "

The only other Farmer living in the county in 1850 is Burdine
Farmer, who may be the son listed in the 1830 census as between
10-15 years old. Any information about John and his family
would be greatly appreciated. I will be happy to share what I
have.
