Samuel and John Samples, b circa 1760, probably in Ireland

The legend of the Samples family in Clay County, WV, is that all are descendants of Samuel Samples who, with his brother John, was with Cornwallis at the British surrender to George Washington at the end of the American Revolution.

Please, does ANYONE have any more substantive detail/documentation about these two men? Documented dates and places of birth - ANYTHING beyond the oral history itself - would be VERY much appreciated.

Many thanks in advance.

Dena
