It was recommended I post my message in the Virginia forum as well...
I have been stuck for more than a year at a certain point... have tried repeatedly to get access to my local library's computer database access to no avail... some sort of glitch that does not allow me to log in... anyways, since activity seems to be resuming on the board, I'll try asking for help again...
I am searching for information regarding the parents of a James Kidwell... here is what I know:
James Kidwell... born sometime around 1812 in Virginia (Shenandoah County?), married Alcinda Darr (also born sometime around 1812 in Virginia) on 16 January 1835, James was a laborer; children include James E. (b. 1836), Phillip H. (b. 1838), Thomas E. (b. 1840), John W. (b. 1842), Franklin (b. 1844), and Henry V. (b. 1844?... my gg-grandfather)... all of this information from the 1850 Census of Frederick County Virginia... except for the marriage info.
Any help would be greatly appreciated... I have become discouraged and have not done any research for some time... any bit of information regarding the above mentioned James Kidwell (in particular about his parents) would be greatly appreciated.
I have some unconfirmed sources that state James was a Civil War veteran... that source also has some information that is most likely untrue... making me doubt other things as well.
