Some Early American Watkins History.

Virginia Sanders-Mylius has made available the research she has done on the family of her 5th great-grandfather Col. Robert Watkins (1763-1805). A lot of dedicated work has been done by Virginia by going through many history books and documents.

Robert was Lt. Col. of the Richmond County (Georgia) Militia; a member of the Georgia Legislature; inventor and planter, his plantation was "Rosney"; Augusta lawyer and co-writer of the first "Georgia Digest of Laws" (1800) with his brother, George Watkins. Robert Watkins was esteemed by his peers, and doubtless feared by his enemies.

Read all about Robert, including his famous pistol duel was with Gov. James Jackson.
