Where Is Evans Port/Evans Point, VA?

From military records, I discovered that my gg-grandfather, Joseph Fant, died from a disease on 5 Jan 1862 while serving in Brown's Company, 14th Regiment, Alabama Infantry. He died in a place called Evans Port or Evans Point, VA. Would someone be so kind as to advise me where this place is located? Was this simply a military camp? Thank you so much for your help.
