John Brown, Clerk of the Court in Mecklenburg, VA

Does anyone have any information on the lineage/pedigree of the John Brown who was the Clerk of the Court in Mecklenburg Co., VA for many years in the 1700s? He was apparently too old to have been the son named John Brown of the Thomas Brown in that area who had married Mary perhaps that John Brown was instead the son of the Henry Brown "II" (born by at least 1710) who moved into Lunenburg/Mecklenburg Co., VA from Essex Co., VA around 1762. One of the sons of that Henry Brown "II" (per his Will in the 1790s) was named John Brown (and the other sons were Henry Brown "III"....who stayed behind in Essex Co., VA, before later moving to King and Queen Co., VA around 1769....Mordecai Brown "II" and Aris Brown).

There is a record in Mecklenburg Co., VA that shows men there in the 1700s who were named Captain John Brown, Ensign Mordecai Brown and Lt. James Brown. I can't help but wonder if Captain John Brown was the same man who became Clerk of the Court, and I also wonder if Ensign Mordecai Brown and Lt. James Brown were sons of that John Brown.

If anyone has some information on the above issues, I would appreciate it if you would post it here. Thanks!
