Hello, My wife just located a William and Mary Quarterly piece: >(1) Many of the kinsmen of Thomas Ayers, doubtless, came to Virginia. In Lower Norfolk County records we learn that "John Custis married the relict of Robert Eyres, dec'd" (1652, Feb. 16), and that "Sam. Chew, of Herrington, in Maryland, Esq.," married Anne, "daughter and sole heir of William Ayres, late of Nancemond" (12 Sept., 1672).< I am interested in any possible Fox/Ayers marriages which may have taken place between the Nancemond Ayers and the Mecklenburg/Brunswick Fox families. I am a descendant of William Eires(Ayers) Fox who had settled into Person County, NC by 1800, with a wife, Jane or Wilmouth, and a son John and a daughter Mary. Another son, William Fox was born in 1802. It seems pretty evident from various records that William Eires Fox served in the Revolutionary War, as he enlisted in the Seventh North Carolina Regiment 11 June 1777 and he collected his army pay at Hillsborough in 1792. I will appreciate any contacts or data which may aid me in my search of this Fox family's earlier history. Best regards, John Fox Winston Salem, NC Notify Administrator about this message?
