Indenture entered 28th February 1837 between Joseph P.
Allen and William Towns,County of Mecklenburg State of
Virginia.His interest in Estate of his father.Thomas Allen
dec'd in the slaves and other property held by his mother
Lucy Allen as dower on the estate of her deceased husband
also all the right title and interest of the said Joseph
P.Allen in the estate of Ruel Allen his Uncle who died
with out Will which is one sixth part of the Dower interset
held by his mother and one distributable sixth part of the
share share due to his father estate in the estate of
said uncle Ruel Allen and the saith Joseph P.Allen doth
hereby consent and agree with the Wm Townes that he has a
good and sufficent title to the aforesaid property and he
will forever warrant and defend the title upon said Towns
and his heirs forever against the dower claim of all and
every person or person whosoever in whereof who may the
said Joseph P.Allen has here unto set his hand and seal
the date above written.

Joseph P.Allen was the nephew of Ruel Allen and the s/o
Thomas and Lucy Allen.
Thomas Allen married Lucy Adams Dec.13,1796 surety John
Freeman in Mecklenburg Co Va.
Ruel Allen married Mary Pullion Jan 13 1794 in Mecklenburg
Surety James Norment
Ephraim Allen and Patsey Shelton Feb.13,1792 Mecklenburg
surety Thomas Allen.
