I would like to exchange information. I can't tell you Rachel's maiden name.
No one that I know of has found any record of the marriage of William and Rachel. They just all of a sudden show up in the county - about 1770. There are records of Blacketters (various spellings)entering the USA. Alexander and Peter lived in Nansemond Co in 1711 and 1713 respectively. John Blacketer came to Accomack Co in 1666. Then there are some Blacketers in Maryland about 1683.
No one has found a link to these families for William of Meck. Co.

I have William, son of William and Rachel married to Elizabeth Allgood and later to Margaret Lockman. John Henry B. was the offspring of the first marriage. I have never figured out who the descendants of John H were, so that information would be beneficial. The children of Elizabeth were William, Alexander, Betsy, Rachel, Spencer and John H. The children of Margaret were
Olive, Elizabeth, Jefferson, Thomas and David. I'm not certain if I have all
the children listed. You can tell me what you know.

My line forms from Henry Blacketer, the son of Willaim and Rachel. Henry married Olive Lockman, the sister of Margaret.

There are links from the Blacketers to the Jeffersons, as in President of the USA. One of William and Rachels neighbors was Field Frarrar and another was Field Jefferson. The first was a cousin of Thomas Jefferson and Field Jefferson was Thomas' uncle. I believe that this is one of the reasons why the names
Thomas and Jefferson appear in the family.

Consider using the Blackadar-L mailing list at to exchange
information. That way we should meet others who are working on this surname.
I sent a copy of this letter to the list.
