Stephen Davis and Rebecca Wells are my gr gr grandparents. I can only document as far back as John Davis and Elizabeth his wife as parents of Stephen. Have a copy of John Davis will of 1809 and he names his children in it. Stephen is the yougest child, and had a sister Elizabeth. John was married 3 times as far as we can figure.After John's death, Elizabeth chose Matthew Davis as her guardian. We believe Matthew was the brother of John. Stephen was appointed constable of Mecklenburg county and after that we find no other records of him. In the 1850 census Rebecca Wells was living back with her mother, Lavinia Wells.
