I have a book "TOMBSTONES of Mathews County, Virginia 1711-1986 published by the Mathews County Historical Society.

I see two listings on page 211 for the White Cemetery on Rt. 655. The first listing is for a little girl who appears to be his child. The entry is as follows:

"infant/DAUGHTER OF/ John T. & Emma C. White/ Died/ Dec 15, 1898/ Aged 1 mos. 6 days/ Lonely is the house and/ sad the hour/ Since our little darling/ has gone/ But Oh! a brighter Home than Ours/ in Heaven is now thine own."

The second entry is as follows:
"LEAD KINDLY LIGHT/ JOHN T. WHITE/ Born/ May 2, 1832/ Died/ June 23, 1910/ Age 78 yrs 1 mo. 4 days/ Gone but not forgotten.
