please be advised that clinton stirk - descendent of eugene winter died recently. house at 254 righters mill rd gladwyne has been sold to a developer- this home may soon cease to exist

This home was built by Eugene Winter (1826-1908) in 1880 when Gladwyne was just Merion Square. The Stirk family which just sold the property in late May were direct descendents of Mr. Winter. Initial research if cemetery records of Gladwyne United Methodist Chruch Cemetery indicates that Ella Winter Stirk was probably Eugene's daughter (1886-1952) , hence the connection. Ella married John Stirk. These are some of the oldest names of Gladwyne settlers, and if research is correct, this is the very first time that this house has been out of that family...and it is now at risk..if there are ancestors interested in preserving this victorian please check this out
