I found this in Madison County, VA Will Book #2 (1804-1813)p. 83. (Abstracted) "do put place & bind JULIUS WHITE a bastard child of SUSANNA WHITE of the age of 6 years in the care of Robert Harrison, a shoemaker" He was to be an apprentice shoemaker learning the "craft, mystery & occupation of shoemaker". The boy was also to learn "reading, writing and common arithmetic". [Dated 20 June 1806]
