Barbara, Caldwell arrived on a ship in Phildelphia with a group of Presbyterians, They finally settled at Cubs Creek, either Campbell or Charlotte, cos., VA. He was the leader of the group who moved here, so that might be the reason for the nickname. I know very little about him. Am trying to trace him because the Mitchell family travelled with him, and I am trying to trace the Mitchells. Any information you could give me would really be appreciated. My husband and I just visited Cub Creek last week-end. Nothing left, but a cemetery, foundation to the church, and a marker, but really interesting. Marilyn e-mail:mmitchell@gcronline.com
