The Kenbridge Victoria Dispatch Wednesday April 25, 2001 Lunenburg Courthouse Grant Will Preserve Court Records Lunenburg has received a $68,000 state grant the will see to it that court records from 1746 to 1913 are availbale to future generations Circuit Court Clerk Gordon Erby learned last week that his application for a "Reformatting paper to film" grant from the Virginia Circuit Records Preservation Program had been approved. Two years ago, Lunenburg received a grant to take the records from 1746 to 1913 and re-index them. The new grant will allow those same records to be microfilmed. "This will help people seeking information for legal purposes, but it will especially help those looking up family histories," said Erby. "We have more and more of them all of the time, and some of our records are so fragile, no one can handle them." The clerk said he hoped records from 1913 forward could eventually receive the same treatment.
