I have a John S. Weatherford on the 1840 Mecklenburg Co., VA census, living alone with a boy under 5 years, who I believe to be my GGgrandfather and Ggrandfather. John S. married at least two women in Lunenburg Co., VA: Sarah B. Bailey on Jan. 17, 1834 and Amanda W. Hardy(Harding) on June 12, 1843.
Soon after the marriage to Amanda Hardy the family left for TN.

I noticed while looking through marriage records that a Burnal Weatherford had used the same bondsman as John S., a man named Richard Brown. In John S's marriage to Sarah Bailey he used a bondsman named German Bailey, in addition to Richard Brown. Marriage records reveal German Bailey married into the Harding(Hardy) family, of John's second marriage.

Yet another marriage record showed that John Weatherford married a Lucretia Brown. The above mentioned Richard Brown married a Lucy Hester. I wonder if Richard was Lucretia's father.

I am looking for a John S. Weatherford who apparently had strong ties to the Brown, Bailey and Harding families. I believe he may have been brother to Burnal Weatherford who used Richard Brown as his bondsman. There is also a William listed who used the same minister with no bondsman named.

Do you have any idea of what family my John S. may be a member?
