Thomas ERSKINE had will in Halifax Co., VA 1778 in which he left to his nephews Charles ERSKINE, Alexander ERSKINE and one neice, Amey ERSKINE. His nephew Alexander received 400a lying on Mitchell's Creek in Lunenburg Co., VA which was a 1764 patent granted to him ( Thomas Erskine ). He also leaves money for the education of two sons of John McCutcheon. Is this a possible sister of his ?

Thomas Erskine also leaves to his " brother-in-law Richard JONES, Jr." one Negro girl, one feather bed and furniture also one hundred ten pounds lawful money " it being the consideration that I sold his two Negro girls for and to his heirs".

How is Richard Jones, Jr. his brother-in-law? He married Lucy CLAY. Can somone please explain the quote concerning money? Who were the parents of Alexander, Amey and Charles? Any information concernign Erskine, Jones and Dennis will be appreciated. Arlina
